Vietnamese cinnamon (Cinnamomum loureiroi), otherwise known as Saigon cinnamon, has the highest essential oil content (5%) of the four cinnamons we sell, giving it the most intense spicy, sweet flavor. Perfect for recipes where you want the cinnamon flavor to dominate, like in homemade cinnamon rolls. Or to hold its own with other spices, as in Asian-style soups like Pho. We offer our Vietnamese cinnamon in stick form (hand-selected to ensure you receive the highest quality product), or in ground form.

*In the US, because of the similarities in flavor, we generally recognize four distinct types of cinnamon: Ceylon cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum), Indonesian cinnamon (C. Burmannii), Chinese cinnamon (C. Cassia), and Vietnamese/Saigon cinnamon (C. Loureiroi). However, only Ceylon cinnamon is true cinnamon, i.e. bark from a cinnamon tree. The remaining “cinnamon” types are actually bark from cassia trees, which have a higher essential oil content, giving them a more pronounced flavor and aroma than true cinnamon.
