Cinnamon, Ceylon (Sticks)

  • Many of us may recognize the flavor of cassia* as cinnamon, but the only true cinnamon is Ceylon cinnamon - the inner bark of the Cinnamomum verum tree, native to Sri Lanka.  Harvested by hand in Sri Lanka, our Ceylon cinnamon sticks have a complex flavor that is delicately sweet, and slightly spicy, with a note of citrus.  Perfect for adding a light cinnamon touch to desserts.  Click on the "Recipe Ideas" tab to find out more.

We offer our Ceylon cinnamon in stick form (hand-selected to ensure you receive the highest quality product), or in ground form.

*In the US, because of the similarities in flavor, we generally recognize four distinct types of cinnamon: Ceylon cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum), Indonesian cinnamon (C. Burmannii), Chinese cinnamon (C. Cassia), and Vietnamese/Saigon cinnamon (C. Loureiroi). However, only Ceylon cinnamon is true cinnamon, i.e. bark from a cinnamon tree. The remaining “cinnamon” types are actually bark from cassia trees, which have a higher essential oil content, giving them a more pronounced flavor and aroma than true cinnamon.  If you would like to learn more, explore our article "Spices Unearthed: Cinnamon & Cassia"
