With a blend of premium Ceylon tea powder and warming spices like cinnamon and cardamom, our Chai Tea Blend is delicious just the way it is - soothing, balanced, aromatic. But yet missing that one important element on slow going mornings and afternoons. That jolt of strong flavor and caffeine that draws us to a cup of coffee every day.
With a shot of espresso, we threw off the balance and made what some refer to as a dirty chai – but we call Java Chai. It’s darker, richer, and stronger with the aroma of tea, coffee, and spices, all in one cup. Mix our Java Chai Tea Blend with a little bit of sugar and lots of milk, and it makes a great pick-me-up drink in the morning, or a wonderful companion on a long weekend afternoon.
Our Java Chai Tea Blend is ground into a coarse powder in order to lock in the essential oils of the spices, so the flavor is more potent when extracted for drinking. But the powder is still fine enough for use as a baking ingredient in recipes such as chai cupcakes, chai muffins, and chai shortbread cookies. Click on the “Recipes” tab to find out more.
Easy Java Chai Recipe (1 serving): 1. In a small pot, add in 1 cup of milk, 1/2 cup of water, 1 - 1.5 teaspoons of sugar, and 1 - 1.5 teaspoons of our Java Chai Tea Blend. 2. Heat on low fire until simmering, then turn fire off, cover the pot, and let steep for 5-10 minutes. 3. Before serving, heat again on low fire to desired drinking temperature (if you have an electric milk frother, use it to foam up and thicken the tea). 4. Finally, strain out the spices while you pour the tea into a mug.
